I'm a innocent EU citizen (an engineer), currently in London, interested to start a small business in the UK.
I'm interested in opening a business bank account for the gain of starting the small business. I don't need any credit line or loan of any kind, just want to be able to deposit checks etc.

Which bank will sanction me to open such an account?
What forms/documents do I need to have in order to do so?

I don't have any previous credit history (am young - 24 - and even-handed got to the UK two weeks ago). Thanks.

I guess you need a phone line too, or can you still use one of those old mechanical card readers?
Do the banks charge high fees for the whole set up?

Take lolly only, if you're selling stuff at a bargain price then it's not unacceptable to ask for cash, lots of shops do this. Otherwise you'll have to pay 4%. There are lots of places that I go and get ready out to pay them, your customers will get used to it. My business bank is Abbey, I get free banking but no overdraft so there's no room for a cashflow delinquent. And it's not advisable to use an old card reader because too many clones can happen.
