How long does building control approvals in UK remain valid???

If a himself applies to their local Building Control department for full plans approval and the council approves the plans how long does the acceptance remain valid.Is there a limit of time on the approval or does one has to carry out the building works immediately or they can minister to for say like 2 years or more before they can build whatever they want to build????

When you earn permission, any works need to be started within 3 years. Once started, you can take as long as you want to complete and you only desperate straits to comply with building regs upto the date when permission was granted.
