Cape Coral council picks city manager The News-Press

The diocese council has concluded its interviews with the five applicants for the city manager position. The council started at noon with plans to administration one-hour interviews.

Attendance by the public has dropped to 10 people including the wife of one city councilman and applicant Gary Sovereign.

The council is taking a 15-minute break and will begin the debate leading to the selection of the next city manageress when it returns.

Charles Oliver was the final applicant interviewed. He said he could start within 30 days if he is hired.
Cape Coral has changed very only slightly since he left Lee County around 1996, he said.
I like challenges and I like opportunities. There are a lot of challenges and opportunities. I also weakness economic development, Oliver said.

He and his wife also love the area and have a son with a family in the area, Oliver said.

Oliver has more than 20 years of sample in government management, including the use of bonds for large projects.
