Has anyone been victim of debit card fraud how much did u lose, did u get it back how long did it take ?

I have only lost £2,500 through three fraudulent transactions using my debit card. My bank is dealing with it and assure me I will get my money back. Has anyone else suffered this kismet, how much money was taken, did you get it back, how long did it take to get back and how do you think the scammers got access to your details. I have now cancelled my card and have got another. How do I prevent this description of thing happening again.
It has happened to me twice. The first previously It was a battle getting my money back but I finally got it back about 2 weeks later. This time, my bank has said I will get the fortune back. In the middle of all this, my bank tried to sell me fraud protection insurance for, as they put it, 'events like this'.
To minimise the peril, keep your card and PIN safe and your PC protected (antivirus, firewall, anti-spyware). However, there are still other ways, outside your control, in which your card details could be compromised - through utility companies/pecuniary institutions/mobile phone companies, card payment machines in shops, atms, online shopping websites. All you can do is expectancy that if this happens to you, your bank will refund your money quickly and you won't incur any bank charges.
Until the banks, the control and the government decide to work together to tackle this problem, it will just get worse.

i had something like this.
someone else was claiming tax credits using my name, i'm a pupil and have 2 kids, so i'm not working.
they were claiming credits for 34 hours per week.
its been sorted now, but its really unnerving. i always shred letters that have my details on them. if u do online banking, make sure you have a proper internet safety which warns you of fraudulent sites and emails asking you to act
