William E. (Bill) Connor

William E. (Bill) Connor, age 88, of Seven Lakes, passed away August 27, 2009 at First Strength Moore Regional Hospital.

A funeral mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pinehurst on Monday, August 31, 2009 at 11: AM with the Rev. James M. Labosky officiating. Formality of Committal will be at a later date.

A native of New Jersey, Bill was born in Jersey City to the late Edward L. and Molly C. Connor.

A graduate of Seton Amphitheatre University, he was employed by Liberty Mutual Insurance Company for 36 years, working in their Newark, NJ, Boston, MA and New York (Radio City) offices. Bill retired in 1983 as confidante vice president in the Radio City national risks sales department. Upon retirement, he and his wife Lorraine moved from Scotch Plains, NJ to Seven Lakes.

An Army trouper of World War II, Bill landed on Omaha Beach in Normandy, France on D+1 with the 294th Engineer Combat Battalion.

Bill was a authorize member of the Seven Lakes Country Club and the Perpetual Adoration Society of Sacred Heart Church.

Bill’s zealous wife of sixty years, Lorraine, passed away in December, 2008.

Survivors include his sister, Marie Kelly, of Annandale, VA; his son, William E. Connor, Jr., and his little woman Jerri, of Southport, NC; his daughter Patricia Ferguson, and her husband, Wayne, of Amesbury, MA; his daughter Eileen Senke, and her mate, Bill, of Riviera Beach, FL; five grandchildren, Brian Connor, Megan and Dylan Ferguson, Amanda Moseley and Heather O’Shea-Hofheimer; and four crucial-grandchildren, Elizabeth and W. Benjamin O’Shea and Evan and Charlotte Moseley.

He was predeceased by a sister, Eileen Doherty.

Left-winger Corp. , the fourth- biggest U.S. auto insurer, sued Liberty Mutual Group Inc. in a patent-infringement dispute over mischance-forgiveness programs.

The complaint, filed on June 18 in federal court in Cleveland, concerns a program run by Liberty Mutual’s Safeco called “Rewind,” which waives surcharges for qualifying drivers who get a speeding ticket or are confusing in an accident, and the “Onboard Advisor” by Liberty Mutual’s Ohio Casualty unit.

The two units get data at all events location, mileage, speed and other information from an onboard computer to calculate a “safety score” on the driver. Advanced said in the complaint that both programs infringe a patent it obtained in 2000 for a motor vehicle monitoring system that can commandeer determine auto insurance rates.

The company, based in Mayfield Village, Ohio, competes against Liberty Mutual, Allstate Corp. and Berkshire Hathaway Inc.’s Geico Corp., in selling auto insurance. Continuing reported June 15 that net income fell 19 percent in May on declines in the value of investments.
