Can anyone announce to me which option is the best when you have a dispute with a credit card company who is not prepared to listen to a reasonable complaint. Court performance or a complain to the banking Ombudsman.

depends what your inquiry is, all credit card companies have a department called CMT (complaints management team) who have more authourity than your average joe that picks up the phone. If youre grievance is genuine you just need to be persitant, the customer is always right. The bank are out to make money, if your account is in data d fabric shape threaten to close it, you will then go through to the 'retention' team who's job is to talk you out of closing it, i.e. give u what u want! be careful though, if your account isnt in sizeable shape they will close it the first chance they get!

They typically run .99 per $100 and the parcel out (supposedly) is that if after 90 days of coverage, the cardholder croaks, that they credit card amount owed is forgiven. In the pack of elderly people in not the best of health and with large credit card debt ($5000+) is this a good idea?

You'd basically be paying $500 a year and betting that you're succeeding to be keeping a high credit card balance and that you'd be likely to croak relatively soon.

Most of those plans have age limits. So, it's unpromising that they would be available to anyone older than 70 - btw what is your definition of "really old?" Just curious 'bring on I'm over 50! LOL

In general, those credit card protection plans are ripoffs. It makes more financial sense to buy regular old denominate life insurance. Much less expensive, and it covers anything you want it to.
