another cast doubt regaring the website cex. i have an RBS debit, maestro/solo card.. which is a debit card. I've put this on the site and its not saying it doesn't accept it but it does no more than say credit card and not debit, will it still work with my debit card?

Before you can use a Maestro card online. Your bank and the broker both must support it. Check with your bank. If supported they will tell you how to use it. You may even get a new card with a new number. Then log into pay pal. Choose your country if not already selected. Select Maestro. Then it will list what options you can pay with. If it does not list Maestro, you can not pay with it. However, if it list solo you can pay with it and it still may need to be set up with your bank.

Say I buy an memo for £20 - how much does it cost the shop to process my card for payment? Is it the same for online transactions (the charge made by the bank to the store owner)? I'm not talking about credit cards, just debit such as Maestro.

Varies according to the magnitude of the company and the volume of business.
E.g. Marks And Spencer will pay a lot less than a small store.
I believe it varies from 1.75% to 6.5%
