does a visa,MasterCard gift card have to be registered even tho it is activated at the grocery store ?

I should have justifiable asked about MasterCard Gift Card,as I use my visa gift card online all the time, so when I purchased the MasterCard tonight I was not able to use it and I am very dissapointed, can it be that the online banking kith does not accept this particular card?
Don't comprehend for sure because I got one and did register it.
The registration is really quick and it takes about 4 minutes.
Why not try that and see if it works then. If not, contact the bloke service number that is on the back of the card and see what they say. They can look it up in the system and give you better instructions based on the specifics of the card that you purchased.

If it is a Barclaycard I mark you may have to register it and choose a security code which some retailers would reqire in order to complete a transaction.

Buying a Visa gift card loaded with British pounds?
Jun 12, 2009 by Jennifer Nicole | Posted in Other - United Kingdom
How do I buy a Visa gift card pre-manipulative with British pounds? It's for someone living in the UK, and I don't want them to pay out-of-US or conversion fees.
Edit to add: This is a graduation gift and he's hoping to send the closest obsession to cash as he can - for some reason, the gifter (my boss) is adament about a gift card. I'd hate to have to tell him it's his only option!
Pre paid "credence" cards are not common in the UK, but they are available at a cost. Virgin offer a Mastercard:

However this look costly and I don't recall if you can buy it from overseas.
Alternatively you can probably buy a giftcard for a particular shop online, and there may only be a small charge for posting it straight to the recipient. Obviously you would need to know what shops the recipient would use. You could also look into to travel money options from American Signify, or sending the money via a bank or Western Union.
For a small gift I would take the risk of posting some bank notes wrapped up in a missive. It would be best if you could send pounds, but dollars can be changed on most UK high streets, including at main stay offices.
